Register NowCustom Key Distribution (Router Key)Overview & When to Use It

Custom key distribution (Router Key)

Router Key is Register Now’s custom key distribution option. FN-Tools shows each participant the custom key assigned to them. For simultaneous matches, it also assigns participants to their matches.

Organizers enter and publish keys in Discord. Participants check their own key using a button.

When to use it

Use Router Key to distribute a key for one match or run several matches at once.

RegistrationKey distribution
80 solo entries, one matchSet the entry size to 1; all recipients receive the same key
100 entries of two, 200 participantsAssign one member per entry to each of two matches of 100 and distribute their keys
100 entries of three, 300 participantsAssign one member per entry to each of three matches of 100 and distribute their keys

For one match, enter one key per round. No opponent setting is needed. An entry size of two or more creates that many matches. Combining entries of two or more members into a single match is not supported.

Assignments also work with 100 or fewer participants when they are split across multiple matches.

Fixed match groups face the same opponents in every round. Router Key can reassign participants each round and distribute the corresponding keys. It also supports keeping the same opponents throughout.

Opponent settings

For multiple matches, select the assignment method for round 2 onward under Opponent matching. This setting is hidden for one match.

The examples below use three parties of three members: Party A, Party B, and Party C, for nine participants in total. One member from each party joins each match, giving three simultaneous matches of three participants.

Compare the opponents faced by Party A’s first member in each round.

Keep the same opponents

Use the same participant groups as round 1 for every later round.

RoundAssigned matchOpponents
Round 1Match 1Party B’s first member, Party C’s first member
Round 2Match 1Party B’s first member, Party C’s first member
Round 3Match 1Party B’s first member, Party C’s first member

Party A’s first member receives the key for match 1 in every round.

Change opponents each round

Randomly reassign participants each round, taking previous opponents into account to reduce rematches. Rematches may still occur depending on participant and round counts.

RoundAssigned matchOpponents
Round 1Match 1Party B’s first member, Party C’s first member
Round 2Match 3Party B’s second member, Party C’s third member
Round 3Match 2Party B’s third member, Party C’s second member

Party A’s first member receives the key for match 1 in round 1, match 3 in round 2, and match 2 in round 3.

In this example, every member of Parties B and C is faced once across three rounds. Rematches begin in round 4. How many rounds can avoid rematches depends on the number of parties and the assignments made in previous rounds.

See Assignment tables by party size for every match in examples with two, three, four, and five members per party.

Entry size and match count

The number of members per party determines the number of simultaneous matches. Both settings assign one member from every party to each match, so the number of participants in each match equals the number of parties.

Members per partyTotal participants with 100 partiesMatches per round
1 (solo)100One match of 100
2200Two matches of 100
3300Three matches of 100
4400Four matches of 100
5500Five matches of 100

For example, 20 parties of three members produce 60 participants and three matches of 20. Match count follows the entry-size setting rather than the total number of participants.

Requirements

  • A Register Now entry panel that you own or have editor access to
  • An entry size of 1 to 50 members
